Every so often, I get the itch to try something different.
Work on a new lighting technique, try a new prop, create some art or composite. It's usually to practice some lighting or posing or photoshop. So occasionally I will ask someone to model for me. This time last year I had this amazing girl, Emma Grace, come out and model a Fall shoot, then we did another one with flour, and then another in the woods:)
Since I normally sit and debate for hours/days/years on my creative personal things, I decided I just needed to get her these. And now that I look at them with fresh eyes(seriously about a year later!) I am in love with them all again!
So from our first shoot. We did a Fall Vixen type shoot with leaves, red lace dress and some Maleficent inspired hair. The collar she is wearing I also made out of different kinds of feathers from Joann's.
I even did create my first portrait composite for print competition!
Then, I wanted to work with some new equipment I purchased at Imaging USA in the spring time. Some off camera lights from Scott Robert Lim, and then some Lume Cubes. So I purchased some skirts off of Amazon and planned a shoot out in the field where it hadn't come back to life yet from the winter!
Sometimes being so simple, and not doing much except running, can create some beautiful art.
And then it leads me to my favorite artistic ones. Whenever I get a chance to make a mess, it fuels my soul! So in fashion of making a disaster, we used some flour and threw it around!!
Which in turn created some very dramtic and beautiful art pieces.
This first image actually placed second in the 2017 International District Competition in the High School Senior Category and will be featured in the International Print Competition Showcase book. The title was "Victorious Spirit"
I do love getting a chance to play and try something different. Please let me know if you have any questions as I love to help or get others to try something new:)
