It’s not often you will see a golf cart carrying two woman, a teenage boy, clothes hanging off the back, a bag of accessories, two bags of photo equipment and a car seat with a 6 month old. But when you do, you can bet it’s probably me trying to create some epic images(**This is usually the scene at my sessions, just minus baby!).
That was the scene of Grant Konkle’s senior session. His mom wanted to incorporate their love for duck lake and times spent out there, and Grants passion for golf, as this is a sport he will continue to play as he grows older. One of the reasons why I love incorporating the hobbies or sports of young teens is that these become memories and ultimately a resource to take you back to a time when you worked hard to become better at something and it brought joy to your life.
I can still look back at images of myself playing basketball and remember how much I loved being out on the court and how much joy it brought me.
We first started out on the Lake with Grant and then quickly moved to the golf course. It’s is quite funny to see a lady with two bags of equipment and a baby in a car seat jumping on board of a golf cart...but off we went.
After find some nice spots to capture Grant in his casual outfits, we set off to make some magic with his golf photos. This was the time I spotted smoke from burning leaves. “Um...How do you feel about smoke?” I asked. Grant looked at me and said fine. “Because I wanna go THERE!” And we turned the cart to head towards the burning leaves and smoke billowing up. I have a smoke machine in my studio that I use from time to time and love it. But we were on location, and I like to get creative.
From there we finished up the golf shots near the greens, and I couldn’t stop picturing in my head the images from the golf magazines my husband gets in the mail. I wanted to create some images that looked like they were taken straight out of the TV while the golfers are playing a great big tournament.
I think these are some of my favorite golf shots and it was super fun(and yes..probably crazy looking) getting them.
We then finished his session with some football images from his senior high school team, Lumen Christi.
