There is one thing I love about Michigan's winters. It’s the ability to take beautiful crisp and clean portraits in the snow!. Well if you live in lower Michigan you know that Mother Nature has not played nice for my snow portraits. We had no snow and it was almost 60 degrees for a week straight.
Now I know you must be thinking that I am crazy for wanting snow, but snow portraits are stunning and it’s one of my favorite things to photograph. But a las, the time was coming up for our Dream Team Jr sessions, and snow was not in the forecast, so I had to change it up.
Instead of being ice princesses, I decided to still use my Glam Closet(which is my closet of over 30 dresses for my clients to use if they don’t have their own) and take contemporary glamour portraits of the girls. I’m normally a fashion grey, Annie Leibovitz , type of girl when shooting portraits, but want to brand out and focus more on soft portraits too.
This was the perfect opportunity!
All the girls either wore a dress they had, or chose one from the Glam Closet and we captured soft beauty images. I loved them so much!!! Take a look below at our finished images. Make sure you leave them some love!
These were all photographed in natural light with large south facing windows. I defuse the windows with a sheer curtain fabric and block some of the sun coming in the bottom with a reflector. These were all done with my Nikon D750 and 50mm lens. All images have gone through my professional retouching process as well.
