Small Business Showcase- Oak Tree Lounge
It’s no secret that during this COVID-19 pandemic that small businesses in all of our communities will be hit the hardest. Not only are small businesses essential to our communities, they help bring funds into them in the form of taxes, sponsorships, events as well as a way for us to get out and have a fun time. As a small business owner myself I know it’s scary to think in just a short month I may not have a business at all.
But even with the world on hold, so many businesses and people are stepping up to help out whoever they can. I want to do what I can and help highlight some of our favorite businesses during this time and those who are going above and beyond during this time of crisis to help out.
I know the restaurant business is getting hit bad and there are so many great places around our little town that I don’t want to see disappear because of this. First up is a place I have been going to since I moved to Jackson in 2008 and is somewhere we frequent at least once or twice a mont(if not every week!!!)
OAK TREE LOUNGE!!!
By far one of my favorite little places to go eat. Whenever John(my husband) and I talk about going out to eat, Oak Tree is at the top of the list. When I first moved here and lived at the Armory we would go once a week. And I’m not ashamed to admit that.
The wait staff is always amazing. Our favorite from the beginning was Renee. We got to know Renee there over the years and every time we would come in she would bring us our beer and chips and cheese basically as soon as we sat down! Talk about a great place away from home!
My favorite sandwich is the Voodoo Chicken Sandwich. I always say, you know it’s good when it’s dripping down your hand when you eat it. My next favorite is the veggie pita. You can also get it with chicken. AMAZING. Another frequent sandwich I would get, especially when I was pregnant with my daughters, was the turkey reuben. I mean I am hungry right now even talking about all their food!
John loves to get their club, Upper Deck or a great bowl of soup. The Mighty Oak burger is a classic, and my kids love the kids menu. Really there isn’t much on the menu that we don’t love. We just had take out Friday night from them and were so excited.
However, the food isn’t the only thing we love about Oak Tree. The general atmosphere and feeling of the small restaurant is what makes it special. I love when I ask my kids where they want to go, and before they knew the name Oak Tree, they would say the place where the raccoon is in the wall!!! Then Oak Tree added their patio for the spring/summer/Falls months and took the atmosphere to a whole new level.
So if you haven’t been to Oak Tree, put it on your list to visit when we can all join the world again. Until then, call them up at 517-783-5823 to get take out. They are offering their entire menu for take out Monday-Friday 11am to 6:30pm. Let me know what you love about Oak Tree in the comments or share your favorite menu item!
